Husky Safari

One of the most amazing experiences I've ever had, was the husky safari through the Arctic wilderness. Totally unexpected but absolutely unforgettable.   I stayed initially at the Harriniva Holiday Village which has its own sled dog centre.  From there, our small group of six enjoyed snowmobiling, a reindeer encounter and the awesome husky safari with a number of nights in quirky wilderness cabins.  This aspect of the experience was unbelievable.  I had charge of my own team of huskies for the 5-day safari through the wilds of Lapland. It was true adventuring! Once in a lifetime....

Flying High

Learning to fly was an incredible experience.  One of those bucket list items that many people write down but don't genuiney believe that they'll actually achieve.  Well, I got close; that is, Craig got transferred to the United Kingdom days before I was due to sit for my practical exams.  So while I passed the theory exam, I never made it to impressing a flight examiner.  But nonetheless, I do know how to fly!!  Absolutely fabulous feeling being up there, following river systems, flying over football stadiums, and seeing cities, towns and Texas countryside from a whole new perspective.  I did my training through The Flight School Inc out of Cypress, Texas, and my two instructors were Casey Cousins and Sharfaraz Ahmed.  The school is a great little place where you feel really at home.  Nothing is too difficult and the team are excellent.  I learnt in a Piper Warrior, Beecraft and Cesna 172.

Diving the Florida Keys

Imagine the smile on your niece's face after she surfaces from her first ever dive and that happens to be in the Keys!  While the trip was my gift to her, the truth is, I was the one gifted by that smile.  We had a blast.  We spent the first part of the morning in the pool with the Dive Master; me doing a refresher and my neice doing her first PADI Scuba Discovery Dive session.  From there, we travelled to Key Largo's John Pennekamp Marine Sanctuary where we did two tank dives.  Brilliant day out and a fantastic experience.

Cooking Classes!

This was such a wonderful afternoon. Its always a little daunting to turn up to a group activity as you never know what you are going to get, but the Argentine Experience was fabulous. I did the lunch experience making empanadas. The group was made up of 7 of us of all different ages, so nice and small, and Leon and his team made it such fun. The food was excellent and we learnt heaps about the food and culture of Argentina. Congrats to the team on a fantastic venue and a truly professional product! I would absolutely recommend this activity for some fun, great conversation and company.

Grey Nomad Life

Never thought I would own a boat let alone a caravan but there you go.  Covid certainly has brought some interesting adventures our way. But owning Gypsy has been a fabulous experience and one for which I am very grateful.  It has enabled Craig and I to make the best of this dreadful Covid situation and in doing so we have seen some wonderful parts of the country that we would not otherwise have explored. Gypsy was a Marvel Thunderstorm, part of the Sunseeker family.  A great Australian made caravan.  For information on travelling the wonderful State of Queensland...follow the link.
