Birthdays

So today is my birthday. And I am spending it as a foreigner, in a foreign country...by myself. Now, travelling alone is not unfamiliar to me. I have thoroughly enjoyed it many times throughout my life. However, I have to say that spending one's birthday alone is not something that rests easy on me and particularly not when its in a place far from family and loved ones. But equally, this life I have chosen often means I have to improvise and so today I have chosen to look for experiences that will make me smile and remind me to feel good about my lot in life, you know appreciate the small stuff. So the sun is shining and we have a beautiful blue sky in Surrey this afternoon. I have daffodils beaming in my garden, and I have just enjoyed a lovely coffee in my local coffee shop, watching the world go by. I also hope to enjoy a glass of wine later on with friends at our local pub. So despite Craig being on the other side of the world, and despite being in a different hemisphere from my family, life is still pretty good!
