The heart of London

Tower of London

I spent the last few days in London, wandering aimlessly, holding Craig's hand and enjoying the last brief moments with him before he flies off once again for a month. Sitting in a cafe across from St Paul's Cathedral and enjoying a great coffee in the sunshine, I was trying to gather my thoughts and put a finger on what is it about the place that I love and I remembered writing about the city immediately after the tragic events on Westminster Bridge last year - Downunderonover. I think how I felt then, despite the sad reason for writing, is the same. There is an amazing spirit and vibe to London and a sense of place that is difficult to describe but its almost tangible. Yes its a big, busy and bustling place. Yes the traffic can be somewhat hectic. Yes there are a lot of tourists and yes, there is sadness to be seen. But never do I feel London to be a chore. This trip was somewhat sad for me as it may well be the last I do now for many years. Sure, I am still in the UK for another month, but from Lymington, trips into the big smoke are a treat now and it was lovely to spend it hand in hand with Craig, in the most beautiful sunshine. Thank you London and thank you Craig for sharing it with me!!
