Perfect Portugal!!
After a successful recommissioning, Inelsamo was as eager as we were to cast off and get going. Being the daredevils we are, we battened down the hatches for a mighty and vigorously challenging one hour sail in glorious conditions along the Algarve coast to Vilamoura.
Although very upmarket, I really loved the fact that the marina is the centre of town! We only had to walk up our jetty and there were restaurants, bars and shopping options galore. Even the ablutions facilities were rather plush!
We celebrated St Patrick’s Day with a load of Irish and U.K. folk. It was quite stunning to note that there are about 10 Irish pubs in this tiny little beachside town! But beyond the mandatory Guinness and rather odd Irish dancers, we did also go inland to the ancient village of Loule to get some culture and history and walk the cobblestone streets. These little side excursions really make the journey for me. I love immersing myself in the architecture and the history in each of these places and am constantly surprised by the important contribution each have made.
Of most importance on this brief stop, we celebrated our 31st wedding anniversary. I think I have said it before, but my life's journey has been a constant surprise to me and it truly has passed in a heartbeat. I love this guy's face and everyday with him is a gift!
Having enjoyed a ridiculously big brekky we then set off for an anchorage further along the Portuguese coast, to the barrier island of Culatra.
Again only a short sail but we really wanted to just potter along and this was our last stop in Portugal.
