Seasons come and go....

So our Sicily time is coming to an end. After calling Licata, Sicily, home for the last six months, it's time to hoist the sails and begin what we started two years ago....our Mediterranean Odyssey. But before we launch out into the wide blue yonder again, we wanted to take stock and be grateful for the wonderful experience we have had here and the people we have met.

We have taken this six months to refit Inelsamo top to bottom. It's been a lot of hard work with a multitude of scratches, bruises, sprains and strains to show for it, but the end result is a spick and span, sail ready mobile home. We have sanded the decks, replaced what feels like a mile of caulking, chased cables and re-wired throughout, new VHF installed along with a new music machine for me, replaced the generator with a new power storage system that is solar ready, fixed leaks and squeaks and added a couple of new gadgets. Oh and Craig has become a master splicer now after replacing so many halyards, sheets and lanyards (look at me using proper boat speak!). Its been an exhausting process but we feel like we know Inelsamo much better and have discovered things we didn't know.

And along the way we have enjoyed the company, conversation, raucous laughter, support and advice of some fabulous people. A huge shout out to Frank and Vic who helped Craig with his battery project, Birgit, Syd and Elvyra for being our Licata guides and hiking chaperones, Ingmar and Elvyra for introducing us to 'Brandy Dog', Eva for helping me twist my body into various yoga poses, and the crew on Pontoon L1 for making us feel at home. We were the very end boat on L1 so every morning was a walk through the United Nations. We started in the USA with Lance and Jenni, moved onto Russia with Max, Ana and Josie, then onto Germany with Sven and Michaela, Frank and Eva, Jorg, Hans and Julia. Then we passed by the USA again with Michael and Jill before finishing up in Finland with Gustav and Harriet. Some wonderful stories and lots of laughs shared. I will have many stories to tell for years to come! And that is just a few of the so many wonderful people we have met here! So I will finish by also giving a huge acknowledgement to the crew here at the Marina di Cala del Sole. They have been helpful, welcoming and supportive throughout and the Marina a great spot to stop for the winter months. Highly recommend this spot to other sailors.

Anyway.....on on as they say, let the next adventure begin.
